Troop 764 Website, Scoutbook, and my.Scouting

Posted on Dec 20 2022 - 9:56pm
Hi Scouts and Parents,

There are three main websites that our Troop uses regularly:
  • Troop 764 Website - Our Troop's own website containing our calendar, signups, rosters, and other important information
  • Scoutbook - The official BSA record of advancement, merit badges, and achievements. Use this to check the requirements for ranks and merit badges, including a Scout's progress to completion.
  • my.Scouting - Primarily for parents to view and complete training, including Youth Protection Training for all parents and Leadership Training for Adult Leaders
Please review the information below for help accessing each of these useful websites.

Troop 764 Website
Scoutbook - Scouts
  • Website: https://scoutbook.scouting.org/
  • All Scouts have a Troop 764 profile in Scoutbook that you should check for accuracy.
  • If you have already logged in to Scoutbook and are using it, congratulations!
  • If you haven't used Scoutbook before, please log in and start using it as follows.

    • Click the Login button and then the link "Forgot password or my.Scouting username"
    • Enter your email address and click "Send new password".
    • If the system does not recognize your email address, try any other email addresses you have. If they all fail, follow the steps in the next section to create a new account.
    • If the system does recognize your email address, you already have an account. Scoutbook will send an email with password reset instructions. Do NOT create a new account!
    • If your existing account isn't linked to your Troop 764 profile please contact Elton Doi at eltonmdoi@gmail.com).

    • Enter your correct name, date of birth, and zip code. Click Next.
    • Scoutbook should show a popup window matching you to an existing record. If not, cancel and try again with another email if you have a different one. Check that the BSA ID is correct (the email may not be; you can correct it later).
    • If the match is correct, click the "Retrieve information" button. If not click "None of the above" to cancel the process - and let us know (Elton Doi at eltonmdoi@gmail.com).

How to enroll and earn a Merit Badge

Posted on Nov 16 2022 - 7:14pm
Scouts are responsible for requesting and completing a Merit Badge as follows:

To sign up for a Merit Badge
  • Review the Merit Badge information and confirm that you meet the prerequisites (age, rank, skills, etc.) to take the class.
  • Check with your parents and your calendar that the merit badge dates and locations work for your schedule.
  • Email your Assistant Scoutmaster (cc your parents) to ask for permission to take the Merit Badge class; your ASM will enroll you in Scoutbook online.
  • If approved, sign up for the Merit Badge class on the calendar event on our website. If Scouts who sign up exceed capacity, we'll manage a wait list using the time you signed up.

To review the Merit Badge requirements
  • Ask one of our Librarians to borrow the correct Merit Badge book. Here's a list.
 - OR -
  • The Merit Badge Counselor sometimes may distribute a workbook or list of requirements.
 - OR -
  • Log into Scoutbook online.
  • Go to "My Dashboard" and then click on your name.
  • Scroll down and click on the link labeled "Advancement".
  • Find and click on the Merit Badge in the list. It should bring you to a list of the requirements.
  • If you wish, you can mark the requirements when you complete them, but you should not click the final approval/completed button (nor have your parent do so).

To receive credit for a completed Merit Badge - Please note your parent may not approve your Merit Badge in Scoutbook for you.
  • Check with your Merit Badge Counselor that you have completed all requirements. Your MB Counselor will approve you in Scoutbook online.
  • Email your Assistant Scoutmaster (cc your parents) with the name of the MB and that you have completed all requirements. Your ASM will approve you in Scoutbook online.
  • Email advancement@troop764.com with the name of the MB and state that your MB Counselor and ASM have approved them.
  • Please give Mrs. Oldoerp a few days to confirm that everything looks good. She may reply to your email or you may ask her at a Troop meeting.
