About Us

Troop 764 was founded in July of 1964 and is chartered by the Parent Club of the Venice Japanese Community Center (VJCC) in Los Angeles, California. Over the course over fifty years of existence, the Troop has built up a remarkable record of service to the VJCC as well as to the surrounding area. In that span of time well over one hundred scouts have attained the rank of Eagle, with service projects benefiting the VJCC as well as the neighboring Venice Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, wildlife preserves, other places of worship, schools, and more.

Our Troop is growing! We currently have over 60 Scouts and a dozen boys and girls in Venturing Crew. A big reason for Troop 764's success is the strong parental support that the Scoutmaster enjoys. Parents in sizeable numbers regularly participate in all troop activities, including quarterly patrol camps, annual summer camp, other troop camps, troop hikes, and community service and other activities, all the while striving to adhere to the ideals of the patrol method and a Scout led troop.
